BärGPT in the Test Lab – An AI Assistant from the Berlin Administration, for the Berlin Administration

Workshop as part of Smart Country Convention 2025

01.10.2025, 12:30 – 14:30 Uhr

What features must an AI assistant offer to truly support administrative staff? And how does user-centered design influence its development? In this workshop, participants will collaboratively explore administrative use cases with BärGPT, an open-source AI assistant co-created by CityLAB Berlin and the Berlin administration. This hands-on session will put BärGPT through its paces—enhancing official text, responding to citizen inquiries, and performing data analyses are among the tasks it’ll tackle.

After a presentation of the application followed by a light lunch (Part 1), the workshop shifts to practical work (Part 2)—participants will evaluate how BärGPT performs for end-users, identify additional possible use cases, and determine what features might still be missing. These user-driven questions feed directly into the ongoing development of the product.

This session primarily targets staff from the Berlin administration, but other Smart Country Convention attendees may participate subject to capacity. The workshop is part of Smart Country Convention 2025. To participate, register for a free ticket via the event’s website—it’s first come, first served, so arriving early is recommended to secure a spot. The workshop will be held in German.
