On June 18, 2025, it’s that time again: the sixth edition of the annual Sommerkonferenz by CityLAB Berlin is happening! This year, we invite you to the Umweltforum in Friedrichshain, where you can look forward to engaging workshops, keynotes, dynamic panel discussions, and inspiring talks centered around the digital transformation of Berlin.
Look forward to a diverse program featuring high-profile speakers, including Martina Klement (CDO of the State of Berlin), Ann Cathrin Riedel (Managing Director of NExT e.V.), Dr. Julia Borggräfe (Co-Managing Director at Metaplan – Society for Administrative Innovation), and Ulf Buermeyer (Co-Founder of Lage der Nation Media).
Whether it’s keynotes on public sector innovation or panels discussing artificial intelligence and its impact on urban society – it’s all about listening, co-thinking, and co-creating. Hands-on sessions explore how civic participation can succeed, how prototyping works in the public sector, and how digitalization transforms not just processes but perspectives. Smart city topics meet open data and collaborative urban development tools. We’re expecting around 700 guests and over 85 speakers – and the program also includes playful formats like an AI escape room and a pub quiz. In total, you can look forward to 64 sessions in 9 formats – including keynotes, talks, panels, workshops, meetups, and exhibits.

As always, the Kiezlabor, our mobile innovation hub, will be joining us. The Kiezlabor format brings the CityLAB’s prototyping approach directly into Berlin’s neighborhoods and offers space on-site for creative ideas and forward-thinking projects—this year for the first time in its new form as a cargo bike!
Be part of it and actively help shape Berlin’s digital future!
Live subtitling will be provided on the main stage to ensure real-time written transcription of spoken content.
