Climate-Positive Innovations with Self-Shaping 4D-Printed Biomaterials

Workshop

Summer of 2024 did not just turn up the heat – it shattered the thermostat, setting a new record for the hottest temperatures Earth has ever seen. As temperatures rise, the need for climate-positive buildings & systems becomes crucial. How can we design solutions that address water scarcity and extreme heat while aligning with sustainability goals?

Join us for this hands-on workshop and together we will explore, how self-shaped biomaterials can transform buildings by storing rainwater for evaporative cooling and drinking. Through step-by-step speculative tasks you will get an idea, how sustainable innovation design works. Learn to design innovative climate positive systems with self shaping 4D printed materials.

Dr. Molood Seifi is an associate member of the Cluster of Excellence, Matters of Activity at Humboldt University, Berlin. Her research and teachings involve innovative and climate-positive building designs with self-shaped and active bio-materials. In this interactive and speculative Workshop she will share her industry and academic experience with how sustainable innovation is the only way to reverse our impact on the planet.

This workshop will be held in English with German translation.
